I was born and raised in Mexicali Baja California (Mexico) where I graduated with a BA in liberal Studies in 1982. I had the wondeful opportunity to teach elementary school children, first to sixth grade, from 1982 to 1990. I came to the United States in 1990 and by 1994 I had the great experience to work with a local Head Start Program.
I worked with Head Start as Teacher Assistant, Center Director, Education, Special Needs, and Health Coordinator, and Regional Manager from 1994 to 2007. I had the oportunity to join Butte College as Associate Faculty in 2008, and then hired as Full Time Faculty in August 2013.
I am a Butte College graduate with emphasis on Child Development, then I transferred my education to Pacific Oaks College where I acquired a BA Degree in Human Development and a MS Degree in Human Development with Specialization in College Teaching/Teaching Adults, and a subspecializations on Education Leadership and Infant Toddler Care.
My Thesis work was made public in 2008, and it's titled "Starting Over Again." It's a narrative of my journey seeking degree equivalence for the education I obtained in Mexico and the barriers and pathways to continue with Education in the USA.
I teach online courses (CDF 14- Child Growth and Development, and CDF 18- ECE Special Needs). I also teach Early Childhood Education courses in two languages (English and Spanish).
I have had the wonderful experience to copresent at the CATESOL Conference in San Diego, California in year 2012, and also at the California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC) Conference in year 2013.
